Di Giovanna – Gerbino Rosato 18’

£13.50

Di Giovanna is among the oldest viticulturalist family’s in Sicily. The family property is now managed by brothers Gunther and Klaus Di Giovanna. Their organically cultivated vineyards are nestled in the mountainside of Monte Genuardo, a protected nature reserve in the heart of the Terre Sicane zone.

The vineyards are planted with international and indigenous varietals after extensive soil studies in the 1980’s. The white varietals include Chardonnay, Grillo & Viognier and the red varietals Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. The soils consist of volcanic tuff, chalky, limestone and clay mix. The family vineyards are worked by hand from pruning until harvest, following organic methods from the vineyards to the wine cellar.

Gerbino Rosato is made with 100% Nero D’Avola grapes, which covers much of the family property, planted in areas particularly rich in mixed clay and volcanic tuff. Named after the historic Gerbino vineyard, it’s a fruit forward and inviting rosé wine. It’s hand-made from the vineyard to the cellar, with a profound respect for territory. Gerbino Rosato carries a stylistic seal of Sicilian expressivenes and elegance.
