Ládano – Douro Red

Ládano Douro Red 2017′ is truly a unique wine made from micro producer Daniel Costa in the Douro Valley, Portugal. The wine is a blend of 15 different grape varieties which have been hand-picked in 20 kilo boxes. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and then into old French oak barrels for twelve months. Total bottles made was 4,800 in the 2017 vintage and we managed to convince Daniel to sell us 180 of them!

The Douro valley red starts off with some earthy aromas and deep black fruits like blackberry, black cherry and plum. It is these flavours combined with subtle peppery undertones which give it balance and structure. Expect a long finish with velvety and well integrated tannins associated with freshness and ripe fruit. This wine will benefit from decanting or aeration.
